Giving Back to Your Community

Ever heard that it takes a village to raise a child? Well, it takes lots of portable storage to support a community, too:

Community projects make a difference.
1-800-PACK-RAT believes in our communities and believes in getting involved. That's why we were honored to support the Boy Scouts of America who celebrated 100 years of Scouting at the 2010 Boy Scout Jamboree. About 50,000 Scouts and leaders came from across the U.S. to set up a virtual "city" on 3,000 acres at Fort A.P. Hill, near Bowling Green, VA. PACK-RAT provided mobile storage units for the event and moved them on-site when the Scouts were ready.

You may have heard about Scout Sunday Observance, which is occurring right now in many communities. The Boy Scouts of America designates the Sunday that falls near February 8 (Scouting Anniversary Day) as Scout Sunday, which is the primary date to recognize the contributions of young people and adults to Scouting.

Partnering with the Boy Scouts of America is just one way 1-800-PACK-RAT gets involved with communities. We're proud to have partnered with Toys for Tots, the Marine Corps program that collects and distributes toys to needy children at Christmas. We've also donated storage units to the Patrick Henry Family Shelter in Falls Church, VA, to help homeless families make a smooth transition to permanent housing.

Why give back?
According to the WomensForum.com, over 75% of volunteers have reported that volunteering helps them deal with difficult situations better and understand people better. If you are a business owner, we can tell you first-hand how good it feels to be a part of your community.

Give your favorite organization a shout-out! Visit our Facebook page, click Like and let us know how you are involved in your community. Together, we can make a difference.

From Facebook, YouTube and Twitter
We asked our Facebook and Twitter communities this question: If you could move anywhere in the world, where would it be? Here are a few of the answers. What about you?

Tampa, FL ~ Madi D.

Anchorage Alaska bc I've always wanted to live Alaska for the scenery and wildlife ~ Heather D.

Vatican City, Italy. I would love to poke around in the Vatican basement.~ Vivian W.

Cancun, Mexcico ~ Leah B.

Ft. Worth, TX ~ Marshella M.

"Of course we'll be using Pack Rat for our move!! Wouldn't want to do it any other way. Already got a quote and it was very reasonable! We just need to get my husband a job there, and we're outta here!" ~ Marshella M., via Facebook
