Moving is a stressful life event.  1-800-PACK-RAT offers two levels of protection to reduce the worry.  We promise to use our best efforts to keep your property safe and secure, but sometimes events occur that can damage your property.  Since we are not responsible for damage to your property, it is important to have protection for peace-of-mind.

WHAT WE OFFER

The Basic Plan is our damage waiver plan that covers damage to the container when in your possession.  If you select this option, you are not responsible for any damage to the container itself.*  The basic plan does not protect your belongings.

The Silver Plan combines the Basic Plan with protection for your contents within the container.  If you select this option, you have up to $75,000 of protection for your household goods and personal effects while the container is in 1-800-PACK-RAT’s possession or at your location.*

We will assume responsibility for damage or losses to your property caused by:

• Fire or Lightning
• Wind or Hail
• Smoke
• Weight of Ice, Snow or Sleet
• Vandalism and Mischief
• Falling Objects
• Collapse of the Warehouse
• Collision
• Overturn of truck
• Overflow of water
• Upset or overturning of the Container
• Burglary with evidence of forcible entry to the Container

WHAT IS NOT COVERED*

We will not be obligated for loss caused by or resulting from any of the following:

• The storage or placement of items in the Container that are not to be stored or placed in the Container (as listed in the Rental Agreement)
• Intentional acts by you to the contents or the Container
• Damage caused by improper packing or normal shifting

Deductible. There is a $100 deductible for all loses excluding damage caused by Named Storms (Hurricanes), for these occurrences there is a $2,500 deductible.

Please also note the following special exclusions. We will not be obligated for loss caused by or resulting from: an earthquake if the container is located in California; a flood if the container is located in Florida, Houston, TX, Orange, CA or Moorpark, CA; and/or wind damage if the container is located in Florida, Houston, TX or Stratford, CT.

IN THE EVENT OF LOSS OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY?

If an event does occur that causes loss or damage please call 1-800-PACK-RAT, be prepared to include a description of the property involved and a description of how, when, and where the loss or damage occurred. If a law may have been broken, notify the police and file a police report immediately.
